Dragon Eggs

Ok, if y'all haven't seen these already TRUST ME, you are missing out! These amazing little balls of awesome are based on a tutorial from Accio Lacquer and I am crazy grateful she made such a great tutorial because I am in love with making these! My 2 year old is also in love with the "Dagon Eggs" :)

Summer Hauls

I've been on a undeclared no-buy lately while we are trying to save money so I haven't had much to show for haul pictures.  I've recently gotten some new polishes through blog sales and Amazon so I'm going to show you all the new polishes since June!

First is OPI DS Extravagance, China Glaze Skyscraper & China Glaze CG in the City.

Orly Elation Generation & Revlon Heavenly

Hi y'all :) We are out heading to the mountains for the weekend and I went to see Jillian Micheals Maximize Your Life last night with a friend so I had to do a super quick mani this week.  I wanted something fun and glitzy so this combination is perfect!
This is one coat Sally Hansen Diamond Strength Ruby Sequin, one coat Orly Elation Generation, one coat Revlon Heavenly and one coat Sally Hansen Insta-Dri Topcoat.
  I could have skipped the Ruby Sequin and just used Elation Generation but its a jelly polish and I didn't have time for multiple layers.

 

Revlon Blue Lagoon Swatch

When i got this color i was looking for Sinful Colors Cinderella but Walgreen's didn't have it and this was pretty close. The only difference I've noticed from swatches is that Cinderella has a lovely pink shimmer flash that Blue Lagoon does not.  Blue Lagoon is a baby blue with a silver shimmer. Its  sheer, this is 3 coats, and formula is a really thin, as you can see by my hideously flooded cuticles.  The glitter on top is Sinful Colors Ice Dream. Ice Dream is a cheaper dupe for China Glaze Lorelei's Tiara and Sally Hansen Gem Crush. There's small differences but hardly noticeable. Check out a comparison post at Hooked On Polish.

Across the Universe

I got my first high end polish recently, Deborah Lippmann Across the Universe.  I'm not one to spend $18 on one polish so of course there's a good reason i bought this. I had a coupon for DL $10 off on HSN.com, they shipped for free, and i had a 5.95 shipping refund credit sitting in my PayPal account so i ended up paying a little over $2 for it :) You cannot beat a deal like that! It applies great, opaque in 3 thin coats but i prefer to use a black or navy undie with it.

Once I got it i thought it looked a lot like Revlon Radiant so i compared the 2 in this post :)

This is one coat wet and wild Fastdry Ebony Hates Chris, one coat DL Across the Universe and one coat Revlon radiant.

This is one coat wet and wild Fastdry Ebony Hates Chris, two coats DL Across the Universe and two coats Revlon radiant.

Both polishes are very similar in that they both have bright blue micro glitter and medium green, silver and light blue small hexes. The main difference is Across the Universe has a sheer navy base and more hexes, and Radiant has a clear base and has much more micro glitter.

I like Radiant as a polish on its own, and Across the Universe as a layering polish.  If i didn't get Across the Universe for so cheap i would have just stuck with the cheaper, close-enough dupe, Radiant.

World Diabetes Day Mani

Today mani is for diabetes awareness because November is Diabetes Awareness Month and today, November 14th is World Diabetes Day.

 This hits home for me because my little brother has Type 1 diabetes. He was diagnosed around 15 years old and it has been a major struggle for him and our family. He had to learn a whole new life and i remember many late night scares with low blood sugars when he was still getting in the hang of thing. I really hope over the course of my lifetime that diabetes research gets enough awareness and funding that some advances can be made in preventing diabetes all together.

I chose the blue circles because that is the universal logo for diabetes. I chose the fishtail braid accent nail because my brother is an avid fisherman. I chose to add the sparkly glitter because when he was little he would look at something glittery and say its so spaaaarkly with these big blue eyes.


This mani is two coats China Glaze White on White, one coat Sally Hansen Diamond Strength Diamonds glitter, light blue is Sally Hansen Xtreme Wear Blue Me Away, dark blue is Revlon First Class. Top coat is Sally Hansen Insta-dri.

Revlon passion punch shimmer

Revlon passion punch shimmer (196) 2 coats, 2 coat LA colors basecoat topcoat, ring fingers are passion punch shimmer (1coat), pink glitter sprinkled on while wet, 2-3 coats LA colors basecoat topcoat and one coat Sally hansen diamond strength diamonds (120) to smooth surface. Toes are the LA colors basecoat topcoat, pink glitter sprinkled on, repeat and then 2-3 coats LA colors basecoat topcoat to smooth surface.
